Max Rempel, Ph.D.

Max Rempel, Ph.D., is a molecular geneticist based in San Diego, California, who uses the tools of mainstream genomics to pursue some of the largest questions in science: how DNA gives rise to the biofield and to consciousness, and whether human DNA carries traces of extraterrestrial contact. Holding a Ph.D. in biology (1994) and trained in both chemistry and biology, he has spent the past thirty years in American research, with work published in journals including Nature, Genome Research, and the American Journal of Human Genetics. He is the founder of the DNA Resonance Research Foundation and the Starseed Genetics project, a Reiki Master, and the author of six books on extraterrestrial contact.

Rempel says he was drawn to energies and the unseen from earliest childhood, and at sixteen concluded that his soul had come from the Pleiades. That intuition has run alongside his scientific training ever since, and bringing the two together, studying the spiritual with the rigorous methods of biology, has become his life's work.

DNA resonance

The scientific idea at the center of Rempel's work is DNA resonance. Most human DNA does not code for proteins, and mainstream biology has long dismissed this majority as evolutionary junk. Rempel proposes instead that it is part of a communication system inside the cell. The flat building blocks of DNA, stacked like a spiral staircase, vibrate, each sequence ringing at its own set of frequencies, so that the cell nucleus behaves less like a passive archive and more like a tiny resonant computer. He has gathered preliminary evidence for the idea by re-analyzing other laboratories' data and published it in the peer-reviewed literature, including Progress in Biophysics and Molecular Biology, and his chapters on the subject appear in the Springer volume Information Fields (2026) alongside Rupert Sheldrake and Dean Radin.

Biofield and consciousness

From this model Rempel draws two larger claims. The first is that the combined vibrations of DNA generate the body's biofield, the subtle energy field many traditions call the aura. The second is that the same resonance forms the physical basis of consciousness, with the coordinated ringing of DNA across billions of cells giving rise to awareness. He has set these proposals out in peer-reviewed and edited-volume work on how the biofield emerges from DNA resonance and on the physical roots of the mind.

Starseed Genetics: testing for alien DNA

Rempel's most visible project is Starseed Genetics, an effort to test, with DNA, a claim that has until now rested only on testimony: that some children carry genetic material absent in both of their parents. Because a child should inherit nothing that is not present in either the mother or the father, a new stretch of DNA found in the child alone would be an anomaly ordinary inheritance cannot explain. Participating families send saliva from mother, father, and adult child, and the three genomes are compared; confirming whether any new sequence is truly built into a chromosome requires costly long-read sequencing, and funding the first complete family trio is the project's current priority. Rempel welcomes starseeds, experiencers, and contact families who want to learn what their own DNA holds to take part. The research drew international coverage in October 2025, including the Daily Mail, the New York Post, and VICE, and Rempel has discussed it in interviews including a conversation with Whitley Strieber and on New Realities with Alan Steinfeld.

A science-based metaphysics

Rempel's metaphysics grows directly out of his biology. He treats it not as belief but as a science, merging the spiritual and scientific traditions into a single account of reality, and his book From the Galaxy, With Love sets this out as a plain-language textbook. At its center is telepathy: as minds become open to one another, he argues, secrecy and deception fall away, and a civilization built on money and competition cannot continue as it is, the genetic and cultural shift the New Age tradition calls ascension. He is a Reiki Master and, since 2013, has co-led Human Colony, a channeling community that has run weekly webinars for over a decade. His six books, written for starseeds, experiencers, and everyone who feels a connection to the stars, began with the autobiographical Welcome to Earth! A Guide for Aliens (2013) and Metaphysics for Lightworkers; his current work, Postcontact, is a living online textbook for life after open contact.

Mainstream science

Rempel's frontier work rests on a conventional research career. He worked as a postdoctoral and staff scientist at the Medical College of Virginia, the National Cancer Institute, and the University of Rochester, and more recently directed a genomics and microscopy core at UCSD (2023-2025). He has contributed to studies in journals including Nature, Genome Research, and the American Journal of Human Genetics; his full publication record is in the CV linked above.
